About Arkansas Trucking Academy

Arkansas Trucking Academy (ArkTA) at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) provides an accelerated and cost-effective path to a commercial truck driving career. The program is supported by an Arkansas Regional Workforce grant, significantly reducing tuition costs compared to private trucking academies. In just a few weeks, students can earn their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and gain the necessary skills for employment in the transportation industry. The academy aims to implement and maintain a high-quality truck driving training program leading to a CDL. ArkTA's program includes traditional classroom instruction, simulation training, and practical over-the-road experience. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to pass their CDL Class A test at the Arkansas State Police. The academy is an FMCSA registered training provider. UAHT also offers various certificate programs to prepare students for an ever-changing workforce. The need for qualified truck drivers is expected to grow.
