About Ayala & Associates Driving School
Ayala & Associates Driving School is one of San Antonio's longest-running driving schools, in operation since 1971. The school holds Texas Education Agency (TEA) certification and is an approved Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) provider. It offers both standard passenger driver education and commercial driver license programs including Class A, Class B, and Class B-to-A upgrades. The CDL program uses a 20-hour online ELDT (Entry Level Driver Training) course combined with certified behind-the-wheel instruction, as required by federal regulations for CDL applicants who obtained their Commercial Learner’s Permit on or after February 7, 2022. Upon program completion, results are submitted to the FMCSA federal database. Program cost is listed at $350, though this may reflect only a component of training rather than the full CDL package. The school is located in Shavano Park/northwest San Antonio and operates limited weekday hours (11am–1pm and 2pm–5pm, Monday–Friday). With over 50 years of operation, Ayala is a well-established community driving institution, though its CDL offering appears to be a supplemental program rather than a dedicated truck driving academy.
