About Florida Safety Council (CENTRAL LOCATION)
The Florida Safety Council, established in 1953, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to reducing preventable injuries and saving lives through safety and health training, professional testing, and monitoring. Originally focused on traffic safety, the council has expanded to offer programs in workplace safety, DUI education, and family safety. With classrooms and driving ranges throughout Central Florida, over 20 driver education vehicles, and more than 100 instructors, the Florida Safety Council has become a leading safety training agency. They offer a variety of courses including driver improvement, OSHA-compliant workplace safety training, and behavior management programs. The council's mission is to promote safety in every phase of life, including at home, on the road, in schools, businesses, industrial facilities, and government. They offer driver improvement programs for individuals, commercial drivers, truck drivers, and mature drivers, as well as one-on-one driving lessons and high school driver education programs. The Florida Safety Council also provides the Traffic Law Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) course required for first-time drivers in Florida. In addition to driver-related programs, the Florida Safety Council offers workplace safety training designed to meet OSHA standards. These courses and seminars provide opportunities for participants to share ideas, problems, and solutions. The Occupational Safety Institute offers safety compliance and professional development courses on OSHA training, specialty courses, customized training, and fleet safety. The council also offers COSS (Certified Occupational Safety Specialist) and COSM (Certified Occupational Safety Manager) courses for individuals looking to advance their careers in safety, health, or environmental work. The Florida Safety Council is funded through safety training services and programs, membership dues, safety product sales, and contributions. They also host an annual Golf Classic to support free safety training for those in need and community safety programs.
