Fresno City College's Truck Driving Training Program, offered through the State Center's Training Institute, provides a comprehensive 140-hour course designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and begin a career in the trucking industry. This program is ideal for those looking to upskill, re-enter the workforce, or transition into a stable and essential industry. The program combines ELDT theory, simulator training, and extensive behind-the-wheel experience. The 8-week program includes DOT requirements, defensive driving techniques, loading and unloading procedures, emergency protocols, real-world driving scenarios, and accident prevention and safety measures. Job placement assistance is available upon completion. To enroll, applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid Class C driver's license, have a clean driving record, and pass a DOT drug screen. Scholarships are available for this fee-based, not-for-credit program. The Training Institute also offers customized training programs for corporate entities.
