About Kansas Truck Driving School (KTDS)
Kansas Truck Driving School (KTDS), established in 2012, aims to provide the Class A trucking industry in Kansas with well-trained, new drivers. KTDS provides hands-on learning with real experience in classroom settings, backing maneuvers, pre-trip inspections, and city, rural, and highway driving. Their ELDT training program allows most students to earn their CDL in 3 to 4 weeks. KTDS is part of the nationwide Driver Resource Center (DRC) network, giving students access to a wide range of hiring partners across the country. KTDS is a student-focused training center with a reputation for producing safe, confident, job-ready drivers. The instructors are praised for their patience, real-industry knowledge, and supportive teaching style. KTDS works with state agencies like Heartland Works, WIA, Workforce Development, the Unemployment Office, VA, SRS, and Vocational Rehab to help students pay for training. They also have partnerships with trucking companies willing to sponsor qualified candidates. Located in Wichita, Kansas, KTDS utilizes a 4-week program with 160 hours of training. Classes run Monday through Friday, and the curriculum includes classroom study and driving time, covering highway driving, backing, handling, and defensive driving. Presentations are given by the Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Department of Transportation, and other organizations. Graduates receive a certificate upon successful completion of the program.
