The Westside Education and Training Center (WETC), established in 2006 in San Antonio's Edgewood community, is dedicated to equipping residents with the necessary skills for high-paying jobs and supporting local industries. WETC offers no-cost training programs to eligible students through partnerships with local organizations. The center also provides resources to help local businesses thrive by offering tools to build a strong workforce and create positive change in the community. WETC aims to meet the educational and training needs of the community with efficiency and care, fostering strong partnerships with local churches, community organizations, and Independent School Districts to ensure accessible and impactful services. The center offers quick-hitting training programs that channel individuals into higher-paying jobs, as well as college classes that are transferable to other higher academic institutions. WETC provides various programs and tools to support students, offering workforce training to help them succeed at work. The center's location is designed to be a campus experience with a sense of place, featuring a promenade and outdoor community living room to encourage pedestrian traffic and integrate the campus into the surrounding neighborhood. The center also focuses on providing access to healthy food options by planting fruit-bearing trees and a community garden in partnership with the local community.
